Committees – Incubators of Projects and People

11/8/2024| Reference Number : 259.218.1| Legal, School Bus, Insurance/Risk Management, Library | Non-Profit, Standing Committees, Committees, Bylaws | | Return|

Committees are a critical component of every non-profit’s ability to get work done, achieve goals, and develop future leaders. The bylaws of all non-profits should identify the Standing Committees” that form the non-profit’s functional foundation. The bylaws should also have a process for establishing additional “Variable Committees” to address issues and needs that are equally important, but not necessarily foundational. Finally, the bylaws should also empower committees to establish “Sub-Committees” or “Task Forces” to address issues or needs that are important to the organization, but that may be only temporary in nature. Details about Standing Committees, Variable Committees, and Sub-Committees/Task Forces follow.
